Painting Services in St. Louis

A fresh coat of paint does more for a house than almost anything else. It covers up the evidence of kids, pets, and ten years of living. It protects your siding from St. Louis weather — which, let's be honest, throws everything at your house from ice storms in February to brutal humidity in August. And it makes the whole place feel new again.

We paint interiors, exteriors, cabinets, decks, fences, and just about any surface that needs color. The difference between a good paint job and a bad one is prep work, and that's where we don't cut corners. Scraping, sanding, priming, caulking, patching — all the stuff you don't see but absolutely matters.

What We Paint

Interior Painting

Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and closets. We move furniture, lay drop cloths, tape off edges, and put everything back when we're done. We use quality paint — Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore — because cheap paint looks cheap within a year. Two coats minimum on walls, always.

Exterior Painting

Siding, trim, shutters, soffits, and front doors. St. Louis weather beats up exterior paint — the freeze-thaw cycle cracks it, the summer sun fades it, and the humidity peels it. We power wash first, scrape loose paint, prime bare wood, caulk gaps, and then paint. The result lasts.

Cabinet Refinishing

Replacing kitchen cabinets costs $10,000 or more. Refinishing them costs a fraction of that and can make a 20-year-old kitchen look brand new. We clean, sand, prime, and spray cabinets with a smooth factory-like finish. Dark oak from 1998? We can make it crisp white or modern gray.

Deck & Fence Staining

Bare wood and St. Louis weather don't mix. We clean, brighten, and stain decks and fences to protect them from moisture, UV, and mildew. Whether it's a brand new deck that needs its first coat or a grayed-out fence that hasn't been touched in five years, we bring it back.

Prep & Repair Work

Drywall patches, nail holes, caulking gaps around windows, replacing rotted trim boards, and fixing peeling paint. Good prep is 70% of a good paint job. We don't slap paint over problems — we fix the surface first, then make it look great.

Color Consultation

Not sure what color to go with? We help you narrow it down. We'll bring sample swatches, talk about lighting and existing finishes, and paint test patches on the wall so you can see the color in your actual space before committing to three gallons of "Agreeable Gray."

Common Problems We Fix

Paint tells you a lot about what's happening with your house. Here's what we see most often:

"The paint on my south-facing wall is peeling off."

South-facing walls in St. Louis take the worst beating — full sun all day, then freezing at night half the year. The paint expands and contracts until it cracks and peels. We scrape it back to solid paint, prime the bare spots, and repaint with high-quality exterior paint rated for UV and temperature swings.

"My ceiling has water stains."

First we need to know if the leak is fixed. If it is, we prime the stain with a shellac-based primer (regular primer won't block water stains), then paint the ceiling. If the leak isn't fixed yet, we handle that first — check our plumbing page for details.

"The previous owner painted over wallpaper."

We see this all the time in older St. Louis homes — layers of wallpaper with paint slapped on top. The seams show through, it bubbles, and it looks terrible. We can skim-coat over it for a smooth finish, or strip it if the wallpaper is loose. Either way, we make it right.

"My deck is gray and splintery."

Unprotected wood turns gray from UV exposure and gets rough as the grain raises. A good cleaning, sanding the rough spots, and a quality penetrating stain will bring it back. We recommend staining every 2–3 years in St. Louis to stay ahead of the weather.

"I need to paint before listing my house."

Neutral colors, clean walls, and fresh trim can add thousands to your sale price. We do a lot of pre-sale painting — living rooms, kitchens, front doors, and touch-ups throughout. We work fast because we know you've got a listing date. Ask about our pre-sale paint packages.

Our Painting Process

Every paint job follows the same process because cutting corners shows. Here's what you can expect:

1. Prep

Clean, scrape, sand, patch, caulk, prime. This is where the magic happens.

2. Protect

Drop cloths, tape, plastic sheeting. Your floors and furniture stay clean.

3. Paint

Quality paint, proper technique, two coats on walls. Cut-in edges by hand.

4. Cleanup

Remove tape, touch up edges, clean up. We leave paint cans for future touch-ups.

Painting FAQ

How much does it cost to paint a room?

A standard bedroom (10x12) runs $250–$450 for walls and ceiling. Living rooms and great rooms run $400–$800 depending on size and ceiling height. Trim painting is extra — usually $100–$200 per room. These prices include paint, primer, and all materials.

What paint brands do you use?

Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore are our go-to brands. For interiors, we typically use Sherwin-Williams Emerald or Duration. For exteriors, Duration or SuperPaint. We're happy to use a specific brand if you have a preference — just let us know.

How long does an exterior paint job last in St. Louis?

With proper prep and quality paint, 7–10 years on most surfaces. South and west-facing walls may need attention sooner due to sun exposure. Trim tends to wear faster than siding. We recommend an annual walk-around to spot check for peeling or cracking.

Can you paint in winter?

Interior painting — absolutely, year-round. Exterior painting needs to be above 50°F for most paints to cure properly. In St. Louis, that usually means we stop exterior work mid-November and pick back up in March. We'll schedule you for the right time of year.

Do I need to move my furniture?

Nope, we handle that. We move furniture to the center of the room and cover everything with drop cloths. Heavy items like pianos or china cabinets stay put — we paint around them carefully. Everything goes back where it was when we're done.

Should I paint or stain my deck?

For new or relatively new wood, stain is usually the better choice — it penetrates the wood and doesn't peel. Paint sits on top and will eventually crack and peel, especially on horizontal surfaces that pool water. For old, beat-up decks where the grain is too far gone for stain, a solid stain or paint can hide the damage. We'll look at your deck and recommend the right approach.
